Activities Report: Steve Ducharme
Steve said the Solo was on April 10, 2016 with 87 drivers and Kevin McEnhill was the event master.
Rallycross had its third event with a Saturday driving school taught by Alex Reinkordt and Jan Gerber, there was a twilight completion with glow stick markers, and a Sunday’s Points event with Mike Lovejoy as event master.
The first points event for NRSCCA Solo was held on April 24,2016 that drew 97 drivers.
The Sunday competition was preceded by a Tire Rack Street Survival School for teen drivers and a Test and Tune for over half of Sunday’s drivers.
We received some pre coverage from the Lincoln Journal Star, which covered the Street Survival School and Lincoln 10/11, which covered the Street Survival and the Sunday Autocross.
Featured on the TV 10 /11 were interviews with region members; Candy and Jan Gerber, Mark Walker, and Kevin Schatz, with a through the windshield video from Dave Pape, a car action video of Hudson Heaton, Lee Mabee and others, it certainly was a big deal. “As far as autocross is concerned it’s the biggest deal in the country. It’s actually the biggest deal in the world,” said Mark Walker.
There’s another Solo on May 15, 2016 and a RallyCross on May 22, 2016. We will finish the month with the SCCA Spring Nationals over Memorial Day weekend, along with a 2-day Pro Solo and followed by 2 more days of Championship Tour Solo Competition.
Steve has concerns about the Rally Cross site on the roughness at 1-80 speedway. Steve would like to talk to the owners and get the site graded .
Steve suggest that the May 22 rallycross to be held at RPM in Iowa. June 26, 2016 is the next Rallycross after the May 22 one and we will see if that needs to be moved also.
