Ponca City was a park course. It was a true road course, where they close the roads in the Ponca City Park once a year to hold a two-day National Race.
The first Ponca City Gran Prix was held in the July of 1961. It was a 1.5 mile course. The course contained four basically 90 degree turns. It had changes of road camber, surface and turn configuration that put a demand drivers skills and techniques. The park is no longer used as a race course.
